Newsquest

Newsquest London is the largest division of Newsquest Media Group, one of the leading regional newspaper publishers in the UK.

Newsquest's daily, evening, weekly and Sunday titles cover key towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales. In fact, with a combined readership of more than 14 million people†, Newsquest's 300-plus titles are read by almost a quarter of the population. Daily titles include The Glasgow Herald, the South Wales Argus, the Oxford Mail, which often featured in Colin Dexter's Inspector Morse series, and Southampton's Southern Daily Echo.

In London we have a weekly readership of 3,161,749†. Our 24 paid-for and 44 free newspapers cover 9 counties and 30 London boroughs.

A founding partner in Fish4, the UK's biggest classified brand, Newsquest is a major internet player with 29 regional portals and newspaper sites in London alone, including the award-winning thisislocallondon.co.uk. The London websites attract a combined monthly audience of 475,000 unique users‡, who between them consume 2.75 million pages of news, sport, information and classified advertising.

Newsquest (London) Ltd is a subsidiary of Newsquest Media Group Ltd—a Gannett company. Registered office: Newspaper House, 58 Church Street, Weybridge, Surrey KT13 8DP. Registered Number 3105111 (England).

Door to door

Nationally, Newsquest's thriving letterbox division is second only to the Royal Mail in the number of items delivered to homes across the country. London alone delivers between 6 and 7 million leaflets and samples in an average week.

Charity

In the past three years, Newsquest has awarded more than £4 million to local community groups in the UK, thanks to the Gannett Foundation, a charity set up by our American parent company. Gannett publishes more than 1,000 newspapers across America, including the nation's largest-selling daily, USA Today. It also runs 21 TV stations and thousands of websites.

Illustrious past

The oldest continuously published newspaper in the world, Berrow's Worcester Journal, which was first published in 1709 (the year journalist Dr Samuel Johnson was born), is a Newsquest title. In London our most venerable papers include the Surrey Comet (1854), the Bucks Free Press (1856), the Watford Observer (1863) and the Richmond and Twickenham Times (1873).

Not counting the army of newspaper boys and girls, Newsquest employs almost 10,000 people, 500 of whom work in London. The company's head office is in Weybridge, Surrey.

Printing

Magazine contract printing division Southernprint prints many of the UK's leading magazine titles. Newsquest is also a leading publisher of business-to-business magazines and specialist consumer titles ranging from Classic Record Collector to Boxing News. The company has eleven newspaper print sites up and down the country at which, alongside Newsquest's own titles, many national papers are printed, including the Daily Telegraph.
